Customer complaints = check engine light and code P0440

Action:

1. Before you begin, make sure the customer has not left a loose gas cap at any time or fill the gas tank with the engine running. This can be set code P0440.

2. To use the scanner, make sure that the fuel tank pressure sensor (FTPS) reads the voltage on 1.5 volts with a loose gas cap.

3. Check all evaporative emissions control system (EVAP) lines, seals and components for leaks. Check the seals on the cover of the gas.

4. Make sure there is a vacuum bleeding can pass through when it is activated by the scanner. Should be closed after the closure.

5. Clean install, and vent pipe on a long solenoid. While driving a solenoid vent for a scanner and put the hose in your mouth for a brief period and sucked against the spiral. It must be tightly closed solenoid when the support of the scanner.

6. Perform this procedure several times with the solenoid vent. Wind spiral leak often on an intermittent basis.
